Whilst it's not about Girona 'In the Garlic' is a book we can thoroughly recommend as a good, informative and fun read for anyone, but especially for expats in Spain.

It's a quirky, vibrant book, in a handy A-Z format, packed with helpful information, insights, anecdotes, stories, jokes and fascinating nuggets that illuminate the mysteries of everyday life in Spain.
In The Garlic
(the title is the translation of the Spanish idiomatic expression en el ajo meaning clued up, in the know) also includes a number of entries specifically about about Catalan and Catalunya (co-author Valerie Collins has lived in Barcelona for 34 years).
“A forthright, warts-and-all A to Z of living in Spain, at times funny, at times just plain informative… captures both the frustrations and the joys of living in such a diverse country.” Barcelona Metropolitan and Costa Brava Resident Magazine.

I do agree with the comments above and seem to delve into this book constantly, plus I recently met the author here in Girona.
